Infrared Thermography for Optical Gas Imaging - Distance Learning is a 12 hour online course. This is a theory and application course for using thermal imaging in order to detect and document the thermal patterns that are associated with venting and gas leaks. This is a single application, specialty certification course. There is no prerequisite for this course.
Course topics include: Detectable gases, infrared theory, equipment selection and operation, heat transfer concepts, image analysis and report generation, proper inspection procedures, and compliance with standards.
Students are trained to identify the thermal patterns resulting from gas leaks or venting for several gases including: Sulphur Hexafluoride (SF 6), hydrocarbons, Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Ammonia (NH3), Carbon Monoxide (CO), and refrigerants. Self-directed activities are provided to assist with with gaining practical experience, however having an IR camera is not required to sucessfully complete the course.
The course tuition includes 24 hour online access for 60 days to course materials, a downloadable Student Reference Manual, the final exam fee, and written proof of course completion.
